History & Origin

The American Staffordshire Terrier, commonly known as the AmStaff, was developed in the United States during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Originating from crosses between bulldogs and terriers, they were initially bred for bull-baiting and later as farm dogs, guardians, and family companions. Over the decades, their friendly and reliable temperament has made them popular pets, although misunderstood due to their fighting past.
